This year's theme is “Sound and Food
The Marugame Genichiro Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art (MIMOCA) will celebrate its 33rd anniversary on November 23, 2024 (Saturday, national holiday).
This year, in addition to free admission to the entire museum, there will be live performances by local bands under the theme of “Sound and Food,” workshops where visitors can record their voices and try their hand at writing songs, “Inokuma-san's Town Market” featuring delicious foods, explanations of the exhibitions, curator talks on the museum's tours, and special themed set items and products in the museum shop. Curator talks, themed set items and special sales at the museum store, and special limited-quantity menus at the café...there will be many special events!

Please spend a relaxing and enjoyable day at Mimoca in the birthday mood!

The band focuses on old-time music, such as swing jazz and ragtime from the 1910s to 1930s. A traditional jazz band that stomps in the park on Sundays with a secret longing for New Orleans.

lilynaoto

LILY Naoto Saito's two-person unit based on music and yoga. Northwest India plays desert music from Rajasthan and classical music from North India, with a unique sonic expression that has the air and resonance of a journey to somewhere else, while developing music concerts, sound yoga classes, voice workshops, online live-streaming, etc.

SETOUCHI BALEARIC

A DJ unit active in Kagawa since 2015. They are not limited to music, but also dreaming of the day when the Setouchi area will become a place that people all over the world long to visit, transmitting the lifestyle of living in the Setouchi area, including nature, fashion, food, fun, and working style, as “Setouchi culture” through music.

◎Workshop “Let's connect everyone's words through a recording experience!
Tsubasa Naruse will be invited as an instructor to conduct a workshop where participants can experience recording with a real microphone and creating sound works. Each participant will record a favorite word based on a theme, and create a special version of a music application called “Rap Mushi,” which allows participants to play by combining the words of others. At the end of the workshop, everyone will create a piece of work using the “rapmushi” and present it to the general public!
*Rap Mushi is an application that lets you feel like a rapper by rhythmically pressing the buttons of words.

〈Instructor Profile.〉
Graduated from music school and art school. While majoring in computer music at music school, he also performed as a jazz pianist and keyboardist.
His “Rhythmsi” series, a series of media art pieces that can be played with sound, has been downloaded a total of 6 million times. He has received numerous awards, including the Japan Media Arts Festival Newcomer Award.

On this special day, there will be three special curator talks.
The talk will be given while touring the exhibition rooms and the museum together.
